Vieques is one of the Spanish Virgin Islands about seven miles off the east coast of (and part of) Puerto Rico. It is accessible only by small plane or ferry boat. Flights are available daily from San Juan at either the international airport (cost is about $120 one way) or by a nearby airport called Isla Grande (cost is about $65 one way). The three major airlines are Vieques Airlink www.viequesairlink.com, Cape Air wwwflycapeair.com and Air Sunshine. The ferry boat sails out of the eastern coastal town of Fajardo which is about a one to one and one half hour from San Juan by automobile or taxi. Although it may cost $70 to $90 to get to Fajardo, the ferry boat itself is only a $2 fare. Casa de Amistad is located in the heart of the town of Isabel Segunda, just a block from the main plaza and two blocks from the ferry terminal. We are close to EVERYTHING you may need. It is recommended to budget for an automobile at least for part of your stay, so that you can explore many of the hidden beaches and secrets of the island. Otherwise, taxis and publicos are roaming the island day and night.
